Farzana Parveen murder case; SC terms police report incomplete

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Wednesday termed the Police report regarding murder of Farzana Parveen outside Lahore High Court, Lahore incomplete and directed the Police to submit a comprehensive report till Thursday.

The three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani comprising Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed and Justice Mushir Alam resumed hearing of the suo-moto notice case against stoning to death of pregnant Woman Farzana Parveen outside the premises of LHC, Lahore.

During the course of proceedings, SP Investigation Lahore Umar Riaz appeared before the bench and submitted detailed report.

He told that Farzana along with her second husband Iqbal came to LHC for a case.

Farzana’s first husband Mazhar Iqbal registered a First Information Report (FIR) in Saidwala Police Station in District Nankana Sahib and stated that Farzana ran away with Iqbal, he said and added that Farzana filed a petition in LHC for quashing of FIR and she came to LHC to appear before the court.

He said that unfortunate incident occurred 160 feet away from the main gate where Police Guard was serving his duty. Police Guard intervened and tried to save her life, he added.

On this Justice Azmat remarked that had the Police Constable opened aerial firing, the untoward incident would not happened.

The court also summoned the LHC order of the case in which Farzana came to appear before court.

The court summoned Station House Officer Saidwala and adjourned hearing of the case till Thursday (June 26).
