GANG RAPE CASE: SHAHBAZ VOWS TO AWARD PUNISHMENT

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that all accused involved in gang rape case in Lahore have been arrested and the guilty persons will be given punishment under the law. While addressing a function here on Tuesday, Shahbaz said that bogus allegations were levelled that an influential accused involved in that incident was not being apprehended. He said that had vigorous efforts not being made for nabbing all the accused it would have been justified to accuse Punjab government.

“All accused involved in this case have been apprehended and DNA tests are being conducted at the best forensic lab of South Asia,” he said, adding: “A committee has also been constituted for the investigation of the case which comprised honest police officers and the result of the inquiry will be brought to the nation.”

He said guilty persons would not be able to escape and be given due punishment under the law. He said there should be no doubt about the fact that the investigation of the case would be conducted honestly and on merit and no political influence would create hurdle in the provision of justice.

Shahbaz said that demands of justice would be upheld in that case as he had never made compromise in that regard. He said provision of justice would be ensured to the affected family. Referring to the tragic incident of cutting of hands of a labourer in Hafizabad, Shahbaz said a committee had been constituted to carry out an inquiry. He said in case, the crime was proved, the culprits would be awarded punishment under the law and no one would be able to hamper provision of justice to the affected family. He said efforts would be made for meeting the demand of justice without wasting any time and the facts in both cases would be made public.
