Thursday fixed for women’s shopping

MIRPURKHAS, April 29: District Nazim Dr Sughra Junejo on Tuesday decided to fix Thursday of every week as the day when only women would visit markets in the district to shop daily commodities from 9 am in the morning to 2 pm.

Dr Junejo said at a meeting with a women’s delegation who had called on her to discuss their problems that no man would be allowed to enter the markets during this time.

She said that the district government had made the decision as a measure to control prices of essential commodities, facilitate women and ensure availability of general commodities at government-fixed rates.

She said that she would personally go to markets with women in different towns of the district on Thursday to buy item of daily-use and check prices.

She directed special magistrates of revenue to conduct raids in markets and impose fine on the shopkeepers found overcharging.

Dr Junejo advised the mothers to visit their children’s schools every Tuesday of the week to get first hand knowledge about the habits and performance of their children.
