BAHAWALPUR: A Hindu girl has allegedly been gang-raped and murdered at Qasim Wala Bangla of Cholistan desert in the limits of the Derawer Police Station.
The body was found lying near the Bhutta Canal on Thursday. The girl’s father said she was abducted when she went to defecate in the desert at midnight.
According to the police spokesman, the girl’s postmortem has been conducted and the report is yet to come. Three accused have been arrested.

Police apprehended a suspect on Friday for allegedly harassing a woman in the Samanabad area.
The incident, which occurred on Thursday, marked the second such occurrence in the city within a week. The arrested individual was identified as Asif, son of Pervez, a resident of Bhangoria Goth in Azizabad, who works as a bakery items’ vendor using a motorcycle for transportation.
The incident came to public attention when a video capturing the alleged harassment went viral on social media. Following this, enraged residents of the area took matters into their own hands, apprehending the suspect before handing him over to the Samanabad police.
The District Central police spokesperson said the suspect’s capture was aided by CCTV footage, which clearly depicted his inappropriate behaviour towards the woman. The video was widely circulated on both social and mainstream media platforms.
Upon receiving a directive from the District Central SSP, the Samanabad police launched a raid in Azizabad. The suspect attempted to flee the scene, leaving his motorcycle behind, but the police managed to track him down and take him into custody. A case has been registered against the suspect based on the state’s complaint, and further investigations are under way.

The police’s Special Investigation Unit (SIU) arrested on Wednesday four suspects on the charges of killing a young girl and later dumping her body to get rid of the evidence.
The body of the girl, whose identity remained hidden, was found wrapped in a blanket in the bushes in Sachal Goth area on September 27. The SIU chief, SP Junaid Ahmed Shaikh, said that the arrests were made in an intelligence-based raid in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, following a technical investigation into the case. He added that police faced resistance in arresting the suspects, identified as Kashif, Ejaz Hussain, Raja and Sabir.
He said that the postmortem report of the girl stated that she died of an aphrodisiac overdose. He added that she died at a brothel which was being run by the arrested suspects and owned by a government official, who was not named.
The officer shared that the initial probe found out that the suspects had given the girl an excessive number of aphrodisiac pills to force her to sex work. As she died of it, they wrapped her body in a blanket and dumped the same in an unpopulated area, he added, further investigations were underway.

SAHIWAL: A man shot dead his mother-in-law in Chak Rang Shah on Tuesday after she refused to send her daughter with him.
The Rang Shah police registered a murder case on the complaint of the deceased’s husband.
Reports said Imran married his paternal cousin Yasmin a few months ago, and due to some domestic issues, Yasmin came to her mother’s house. Imran came to reconcile with his wife, but heated arguments occurred between Imran and his mother-in-law, Parveen Bibi.
He shot and killed Parveen Bibi and then fled.
After the postmortem, the police handed over the body to the family.

LAHORE: A disgruntled man threw acid on his angry wife reportedly frustrated over failure to reconcile with her in the Green Town area. The victim Zarina, was passing by a bazaar. As she reached near Hafiz Chowk, the suspect Nadeem accompanied by a woman Kiran captured her and threw acid on her face. The victim received burns. She was admitted to hospital. Police arrested the suspect Nadeem.
Commits suicide: A youth has committed suicide by jumping off third floor of a building in Sattukatla.
The victim identified as Shehroze was frustrated due to unknown reasons.
