Minor girl killed by father’s rivals

RAHIM YAR KHAN: A group of influential people killed a 10-year-old girl over a minor dispute with her father.

Zaheer told reporters outside the emergency of the Sheikh Zayed Medical College Hospital (SZMCH) that his daughter Misbah had been missing for a day. He started search for his daughter and informed the Abe Hayyat police that few days back he had a conflict with some influential people over a manhole in his street.

He said he received threats and some people told him that Reham Ali, Saqib, Arbab and Tariq Ali took Misbah by a rickshaw at Cholistan Pull. He said he found her dead body in the evening from cotton fields of Chak 56-P.

Later, police shifted the dead body to the SZMCH for postmortem. Police registered a case against the four nominated people under section 363, 302 and 34 of PPC.

Pims forms body to monitor women harassment act

ISLAMABAD: The Pims administration has notified a committee to monitor compliance with the Protection against Harassment of Women at Workplace Act 2010.

According to details, the committee is headed by Prof Dr Rana Imran Sikandar with three other members including Dr Sadia Riaz, Dr Mumtaz Niazi and Humaira Khushnood.

Shamsher Khan is the co-opted member and secretary of the committee.

Meanwhile, employees of the hospital on Tuesday held a protest against the delay in time scale promotions.

They said that despite passage of three months, orders of the prime minister regarding time scale promotions could not be implemented.

Paramedical Staff Association, Nursing Association and Non-gazetted Staff Welfare association warned that if timescale promotions are not announced within 48 hours, they would opt for an extreme step.

Dr Khalid Masood, while talking to Dawn, said that the internal committee has finalized the promotions of 113 employees of Basic Pay Scale (BPS) 1 to 10.

“However promotion from BPS 11 to 16 will be done by the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC). The meeting cannot be held in the absence of its chairman so I have requested the Ministry of National Health Services (NHS) to appoint or give charge of the post of Deputy Secretary (DS) Technical at the earliest. DS Technical chairs the DPC and currently seat is vacant,” he said.

Man axes mother to death

NAWABSHAH: A woman was axed to death by her son in Sakrand on Tuesday for so-called honour.

The accused was identified as Aijaz Manganhar and his mother as Sahib Khatoon, 45. Sakrand police claimed to have arrested the accused and recovered the murder weapon.

Initially the body was taken to Sakrand taluka hospital for a post-mortem, but later shifted to the rural health centre for want of a lady doctor. After the autopsy, it was handed over to the relatives.

Aijaz told the police that he killed his mother in a fit of anger when saw her with a relative inside their home.

Sindh High Court (SHC) Chief Justice (CJ) takes notice of Mithi gang rape case

KARACHI -Sindh High Court (SHC) Chief Justice (CJ), Ahmed Ali Shaikh on Tuesday took notice of Mithi gang rape case.

The Sindh High Court CJ has summoned a detailed report from the deputy superintendent of police (DIG) and senior superintendent of police (SSP) Tharparkar in a matter related to the alleged kidnap of a girl from Mithi’ss area of Kaloi and gang rape.

Both the officers have been directed to appear before the Sindh High Court (SHC) on September 22 along with the report.

On Monday, a victim of gang rape allegedly committed suicide in village Mehran Soomro within the limits of Kaloi Town of Tharparkar.

The body of the victim was sent to Taluka Hospital Dipol Town for postmortem on late Sunday night.

The girl was reportedly abducted by some “unknown” persons five days back and kidnappers, who, after raping her had left her at a deserted place near her village. The victim in her written complaint with police had stated that she was criminally assaulted when she was going to Hyderabad to receive official documents of the pension of her father who died few months back.
