Sindh High Court (SHC) suspends order for medical examination of girl in child marriage case

The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday suspended a session’s court order with regard to medico examination of the underage girl in a child marriage case.

The direction came on an application against an additional district and session’s court order with regard to medico examination of the underage girl. Zaheer Ahmed and others were booked by the police for kidnaping an underage girl from Karachi. According to the police, Zaheer kidnapped an underage girl from the Al-Falah Colony area in Karachi with abetment of other co-accused, and married her in Lahore.

A counsel for Zaheer and other co-accused submitted that the session’s court order with regard to the medical examination of the victim was unlawful as it could not be conducted without the consent of the girl. He submitted that a judicial magistrate had earlier dismissed the same application while the victim had herself admitted before the high court that she married of her own free will and was not kidnapped by anyone.

He requested the high court to suspend the impugned order. After the preliminary hearing of the application, the SHC issued notice to the prosecutor general and others, and suspended the impugned order restraining the investigation officer from conducting medical examination of the girl till

Three of five rapists held

BAHAWALNAGAR: The Dunga Bunga police claimed on Thursday to have arrested three of the five men who allegedly raped a woman on the pretext of dropping her home when she was waiting for bus at a bus stop three days ago.

According to police, five men — residents of Khirajpura village — abducted a woman of Pakpattan at Dunga Bunga bus stop when she was waiting for a bus to return home after taking medicine for her two-year-old son from the RHC on Aug 30. They said the men, who also belonged to the same area, offered her a lift on their motorcycles and took the woman to a deserted place where they raped her in front of her son.

Police said a case had been registered against five men on the complaint of the victim on Aug 31 and police arrested three of the suspects in this case.

Man booked for allegedly forcing wife into prostitution in Taxila

TAXILA: The police on Thursday booked a man and his four accomplices for trying to force his wife into prostitution and subjecting her to violence when she refused to do so.

The woman, a resident of Meera Sharif, in a first investigation report (FIR) stated that her husband along with his real brother tied her up with ropes and left her at a prostitution den where she was raped. However, she managed to escape and reached her house and her brother took her to the police station.

Investigation Officer Mehboob Khan told reporters that a case was registered against five suspects under sections 365 and 376 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) after medical examination of the victim which has confirmed the rape.

Meanwhile, Wah Cantonment police booked and arrested a shopkeeper for making indecent gestures towards a teenage girl in his shop in Bhabra colony.

The victim’s mother reported to police that her 12-year-old daughter went to a shop to purchase groceries. Separately, Wah Saddar police arrested a few persons for allegedly abducting a man near

An interchange and keeping him in illegal confinement.

A man approached police and informed them that his son-in-law Aabid was going home when four armed persons abducted him and shifted him to an unknown location.
