Women playing vital role in various sectors of national development

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that young generation is a precious asset and the hope for a bright future of the country. He said that Pakistani women are talented and playing an important role in medical, engineering, education, health and other sectors of national development.

He said this while addressing the 11th convocation of Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) on Monday. The function was presided over by Punjab Governor and Chancellor of the University, Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar. Provincial Ministers Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, Zakia Shahnawaz, Secretary Higher Education, Secretary Information, Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Dr Sabiha Mansoor, university professors, faculty members and a large number of students ALSO attended the function.

The CM said that the graduates of this institution are rendering invaluable services in different sectors. He said that vice chancellors, education authorities and experts should bring the standard of education and research in Pakistani universities at par with international universities.

He assured that Punjab government is ready to provide required funds for this purpose. Congratulating the students who obtained degrees, Shahbaz said that their glorious success is a result of hard work and dedication. He said that Pakistan is facing electricity shortage, terrorism, extremism, corruption and other serious problems and collective efforts are needed to overcome these issues.

He said that the goal of development and prosperity of Pakistan can also be achieved through collective efforts and hard work. He said that though it is a difficult task but not impossible. Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar while addressing the convocation congratulated the students who obtained degrees, medals and awards and said that their success is the result of their hard work for which credit also goes to their teachers and parents.

He said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is determined to promote education and has therefore, doubled the amount of budget for education sector. He also paid tributes to the public service of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and said that the Punjab is fortunate to have a visionary and hard working leader like Shahbaz Sharif. He congratulated the CM on the decision of setting up Punjab Higher Education Commission and said that it will result in promotion of higher education in the province. Vice Chancellor of LCWU, Sabiha Mansoor highlighted the educational and research activities of the university as well as its future programmes.
