By: SOHAIL KHAN

BAHAWALNAGAR: The B Division Police have arrested a CIA police Inspector along with his three subordinates for aiding the abduction of a free-will marriage girl that led to her killing at the hands of her family.

According to details, Rabia Bibi and Jang Sher, residents of Duniya Pur contracted free-will marriage against the consent of the girl family and settled to Bahawalnagar. Infuriated at the marriage, Altaf Hussin, Abdul Rasheed, Iqbal, Shahzad, Fateh Sher, Mushaq Ahmad and Yaqoob, relatives of Rabia approached Bahawalnagar CIA Police SHO Ghulam Farid. They bribed the police heavily for the recovery of the couple. Enchanted by the money, Inspector Ghulam Farid along with cops including Adeel Paracha, Mohammad Ali and Rashid rendered their best support to the accused party. By making mockery of the law, the cops facilitated the abduction of the girl. It has been learnt that the couple had also filed a harassment case against Rabia’s family in the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge.

When the couple appeared in the court, the CIA police headed by Ghulam Farid took the couple into custody illegally and tortured both the girl and youth severely. Later the CIA Police ‘illegally’ handed over the girl to her family who took her to their native town where they killed her.

The Duniya Pur Saddr Police registered a case 80/14 U/S 302/148/149 on the complaint of its own SHO Arif Hussain Shah against five accused including Altaf. The SHO stated that he was on routine patrol when he got information that accused Altaf etc had electrocuted Rabia Bibi and buried the dead body at some on unidentified location for her elopement with Jang Sher.

On the other hand, on the complaint of Jang Sher, husband of deceased Rabia Bibi, the Bahawalnagar Police are forced to take action against its cops after a probe conducted on the order of the Bahawalnagar DPO. The probe led by DSP Headquarters found the police cops involved in the whole episode and played a “shameful” role that culminated in the killing of the girl.

In the light of the investigation report, the B Division Police registered case 173/14U/S 364/34, PPC 155, 156 against 11 accused including four cops. Later police arrested Inspector Ghulam Farid and the other three cops and sent them on judicial remand to jail.
