SARGODHA: A district and sessions judge sentenced a man to death on Monday for murdering his wife after she demanded subsistence for their child.

Muhammad Akram of Sahi Colony, Cantt, killed his wife, Atiya Bibi, on Oct 23, 2023. On the complaint of the victim’s father, Cantt police registered a case under sections 302, 324, 337 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code and arrested the suspect.

District and Sessions Judge Raja Qamar Sultan also ordered the convict to pay Rs200,000 in compensation.
