On January 26, Lahore police apprehended a man accused of deceiving a woman with a marriage proposal and subsequently assaulting her. The arrest was made by SHO Garhi Shahu, Sohail Ahmad, and his team following a thorough investigation.
The spokesman for the police reported that the suspect had befriended the victim two weeks prior through the IMO app. He allegedly lured her under the pretence of meeting her and then assaulted her. When the victim contacted the suspect with intentions of marriage, he reportedly threatened her and blocked her number.
The case against the accused, identified as Waqas, has been officially registered, and he has been handed over to the Gender Cell for further processing. SP Civil Lines, Chaudhry Asar Ali, emphasised that individuals who exploit women deserve no leniency.
This case highlights ongoing concerns regarding the safety and exploitation of women, with authorities reaffirming their commitment to addressing such issues sternly.
