This is with reference to Saadia Khalid’s news report titled “Widow falls victim to unjust customs” that appeared in the City News section of your newspaper (February 16). The incident is a sad reflection of the total apathy on the part of NWFP’s law-enforcing institutions. However, the suo moto notice taken by the Supreme Court chief justice is indeed welcome. I hope NGOs working for women’s rights will come forward to assist this hapless woman.
