Man surrenders after killing wife

KARACHI: A man, who had murdered his wife, surrendered himself Thursday at the Darakshan Police Station.

Accused Farhan had killed his 25-year-old wife Humaira by slitting her throat. Her body was found near a restaurant at Sea View and taken to the Edhi morgue where she was identified by her family.

FIR No. 365/07 was lodged against unidentified accused on behalf of the government. “I divorced her around three months back over some domestic issue. I had done it by mistake so I went to an aalim who gave a Fatwa that we could live together,” Farhan told Daily Times.

He accused her of having a loose character and being involved with other men. “I tried many times to make her understand but she couldn’t realize that. I wanted her to come back home because we have four minor children.”

Farhan said that after the “divorce”, he tried several times to make her come back but each time she refused. So, he called her on Wednesday and said that he wanted to give her money to get stuff for herself and the children for Eid, and that is when she agreed to meet him.

“We went to one corner of Sea View where I tried to speak to her but she didn’t agree with me. Therefore, I lost control over myself, slit her throat with a knife and fled.”

Farhan’s brother Rehan, who accompanied the murderer to the police station said that Farhan had been disturbed after divorcing Humaira because she had taken their children along with her to her motherÂ’s house in Millat Town, Malir.

“Farhan came home on the day of the incident and I understood that he had done something wrong. When I asked him, he told me he had killed her. I advised him to surrender to the police and he agreed with me.”

SHO Barikullah said that an FIR had already been registered and the accused will now be sent to the court for a remand.
