A young woman, who eloped with her beloved and fell into an ugly trap of sexual victimisation after being raped and sold for three months in two different cities of the country, has returned home and lodged a complaint with local police.

Roma Yasmeen, aged 27, daughter of Muhammad Arif, resident of Syed Kasran, telling her tale of continuous rape and selling like commodities, in her application, said, “I was married to Kausar Abbas in 2003 but we could not live together due to some differences and I came back to my parentsÂ’ house some one and a half years back.”

“Here, I met with, Muzaffar Mehmood, alias Pappu, a young man of my village and we fell in love. We finally decided to marry after getting divorce from my husband,” she said.

“We ran away and started living together,” she said adding, “we lived in various areas in and around Islamabad including Sihala, Khanna Pull and Bhara Kahu.”

Citing her ordeal, Roma Yasmeen said, “Muzaffar later took me to Peshawar and sold me for Rs80,000 to Khasta Gul who raped me for around 16 days and later sold me to Haji Rafique belonging to Faisalabad against Rs120,000.” She added that after keeping her for some weeks, Haji Rafique contacted her father and demanded a payment of Rs150,000 for her return and finally she was reunited with her family.

The Kalar Syedan police have registered the case against the persons involved in the case under 496-A PPC and Women Protection Act and started investigation.
