Young man allegedly kidnapped, killed by girlfriend’s family

KARACHI – A young man was tortured to death allegedly by the family of a girl with whom he had an affair.

The bullet-riddled body of 20-year-old Fahim was recovered from the inner lane of Snow White factory in the Ibrahim Hyderi police limits. Fahim was a resident of Korangi-4 and a case of his kidnapping was lodged at the Korangi police station three days ago.

During investigation it transpired that the deceased had an affair with the daughter of a man named Asif Chandio. On September 17, Chandio, along with three of his relatives, allegedly barged into Fahim’s house and kidnapped him. Later, Fahim’s brother Saleem lodged a kidnapping case against Chandio and others at the Korangi police station. It was due to the negligence of the investigation staff that Fahim was killed and the culprits were still at large. The victim worked at a garment factory. A case has been registered in this regard and investigation is under way.

Meanwhile, a butcher was shot dead in the New Karachi police limits. The victim was identified as Mohammed Asif Qureshi. He was a resident of Sector-11D, New Karachi. He was going home late Friday night, when unidentified armed motorcyclists shot him dead in New Karachi No-5.

According to the family, they had no enmity with anyone and Asif’s wedding was scheduled after Eid. A case has been registered in this regard.

In yet another incident, a man identified as Sohbat Khan was gunned down late Friday night by unidentified motorcyclists in Bufferzone (within the jurisdiction of the Taimuria police station).

Khan was a social activist of his area. On Friday night, he had gone to the office of the UC-10 Nazim situated near the 7C bus stop, for the purpose of leasing a plot. As soon as he came out of the office at around 10:15pm, two motorcyclists who were waiting outside shot at him. Khan was hit thrice, and died on the way to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

The deceased was said to be a resident of Shafique Morr. He had joined the Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) a few years ago but later he left the party and started social work in his area. The police said that the incident was the result of personal enmity. A case was registered on the complaint of Khan’s son, Noor Badshah.
