Women to be empowered

KARACHI (APP) – The Women Development Department will extend every facility and cooperation to financial institutions to empower women financially through micro-credit programme. This was stated by the Sindh minister for women Development, Ms Nadira Panjwani here on Friday.

She was talking to the Chief Executive Officer of Dawood Capital Management, Ms. Azra Dawood, who called on the Minister in her office here.

Ms. Nadira pointed out that the women of the province of Sindh possess a great potential and qualities. However, due to illiteracy and financial problems they are unable to sell their products to the right people and earn income.

She said that Dawood Capital Management and other financial institutions can help such through micro-financing.

The Minister suggested to the Ms. Azra to assess the possibility of opening up of branches of Dawood Capital Management in Hyderabad, Sukkur so that poor women of far flung areas can avail the facility of Dawood Capital Management Ladies Fund Scheme.

Earlier, Ms. Azra thanked the Minister for her assistance and hoped that in collaboration with the Department, the Dawood capital management will extend its activities in rural areas of Sindh.
