Women playing significant role in world progress

KARACHI — In the present day world, women are playing a significant role in the progress and development of society. They are working side by side with men in every domain of life besides successfully discharging their prime duty of grooming future generations, and joining hands with society for their social uplift”, says a ISPR Press release issued in Karachi on September 13.

This was stated by Begum Shahid Karimullah, President Pakistan Navy Women Association (PNWA) while addressing as chief guest at the 2nd Annual Efficiency Award Ceremony of PNWA held at Bahria Auditorium on September 13.

Begum Mehjabeen Asad, Vice-President PNWA in her address, observed that the association had started its operation 34 years ago with extremely scarce resources and limited manpower.

She said that by the grace of Allah, the executive council, members and work force had brought out this organization from infancy to the well-reputed stage. The association has also broadened its scope including technical skills in wards of naval personnel and providing grants to the poor to lessen their burden.

Earlier, in her welcome address, Secretary of PNWA gave a detailed analysis of association’s during the last year and highlighted the role PNWA is playing for the welfare of families of PN Shuhuda, serving and retired naval personnel and special children.

She said that this noble cause of the association is served through a number of industrial homes and vocational centres where women are imparted extensive training in dress designing, embroidery, cooking, handicrafts and beautification to enable them to earn their living in respectable manner.

She apprised that PNWA extends donations to the welfare of special children and dowry grants to the girls of poor families. She informed that the association also holds shows and welfare meals and funds so raised are utilized in the welfare projects undertaken by the association.

Later the chief guest gave away certificates to the best teachers, students, and workers of the year 2003 and extended her felicitation for their excellent performance.

The best teachers/instructors awards went to Mrs Sarwat Imtiaz, Miss Nusrat Jahangir and Miss Syed Rashida Fareed of Majeed SRE. Miss Sajeela and Mrs Sadia Mansoor were proclaimed the best in Hanif SRE. In NCRE Layhari, the best teachers award were given to Miss Samina Elhi, Mrs Yasmeen, Miss Jamila Begum, Mr Kashif Rizwan and Mr Adnan Yousaf received the awards of best teachers in Sabir SRE. Miss Nausheen Farooq and Mrs Hussain Bano, Miss Aysha, Mr Hayat Muhammad were declared the best instructors in Nazir SRE and Mauripur respectively.

The ceremony was attended by a large number of women, workers and officials of Pakistan Navy Women’s Association.
