Karachi: The body of a young woman, who was shot dead after being gang-raped, was found in Gulshan-e-Maymar on Thursday.
The body of the 25-year-old was spotted by passers-by in bushes near the Northern Bypass. After being called to the scene, police took the dead to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for a post-mortem.
A medico-legal officer of the hospital said the corpse bore torture marks and two bullet holes. She said an examination confirmed the woman had also been gang-raped.
The police have started an investigation but are yet to ascertain the identity of the victim. Also on Thursday, the decomposed body of an elderly man was found at his residence in Leemo Goth in Mobina Town.
Some residents of the area called police after they smelt a stench coming from the house. The police had to break the lock of the main gate to enter the property. They found Syed Faraz Ahmed Abdi, 70, dead.
The corpse was taken to the JPMC for a post-mortem. A medico-legal officer of the hospital said the body was at least five days old and that the man had been strangled to death. A viscera sample was preserved for chemical examination.
According to the police, the man lived alone and was murdered by unidentified people over some domestic dispute.
