Woman ‘poisoned’ to death

LARKANA: A woman Yasmeen Shaikh aged 30, and mother of two, was allegedly poisoned to death in Kermabagh locality in the jurisdiction of Dari police station on Saturday.

Barkat Shaikh, nazim of union council-8, told journalists that evidences indicated that her husband Manzoor Shaikh might have poisoned her.

Victim’s brother Roshan Shaikh told journalists that his brother-in-law informed him that Yasmeen had high blood pressure. She was brought to the casualty department of CMCH where she expired.

He saw black spots on some parts of her sister while saliva was dribbling from her mouth suspecting that she had been poisoned, he contended.

Barkat Shaikh said that he had met the duty doctors who told him that all signs and symptoms they had noticed, when she was brought to the hospital, had a resemblance that she had been poisoned.

He (the husband of the deceased) stopped doctors from ‘stomach wash’ to save her, Barkat claimed but remained tight lipped when asked about any domestic problem which resulted into this mishap.

Her body was handed over to relatives after autopsy. Meanwhile, an FIR was registered at the Dari police station against Manzoor Shaikh, the husband of Yasmeen on the complaint of her brother Roshan Shaikh.

Police have arrested Manzoor Shaikh.
