Woman hurt after jumping from lawyer’s office

Karachi: The judicial magistrate (South) on Thursday sent a Christian woman, who wanted to marry a Muslim man after converting to Islam, to Darul Aman and directed police to submit her medical report.

The court direction came when Risala police produced 24-year-old Sunita for recording her statement.

According to police, Sunita along with Ghulam Rasool went to a lawyer’s office near the City Courts for court marriage, but her family members, who are annoyed with her over her decision, also reached the lawyer’s office.

Seeing her family members, Sunita jumped from the second-floor office and suffered injuries to the legs.

After medical treatment of the woman at the Civil Hospital, police produced Sunita before the judicial magistrate for recording her statement. She submitted that she wanted to convert to Islam and marry Ghulam Hussain of her own will.

The judicial magistrate sent her to Darul Aman and directed the police to submit a medical report of the woman on November 14.
