Woman booked for ‘strangling’ husband

GUJRAT, Dec 6: The A-Division police on Saturday registered a case against a woman for allegedly strangling her husband with the abetment of her paramour and his accomplice one-and-a-half year ago in Deputy Yar Muhammad Mohallah. On a disclosure made by the arrested accomplice, the police also arrested 32-year-old Aaliya and started conducting raids to arrest her paramour Asif.

According to reports, 32-year-old Aaliya, along with Asif and his accomplice Jamshed, both residents of Mohallah Shah Hussain, allegedly strangled Mirza Abu Saad Beig at his house when he caught his wife in compromising condition with Asif in June 2007. Aaliya allegedly called neighbors to fetch a doctor as her husband was unconscious due to cardiac arrest.

A doctor residing in the same street rushed to the scene but found that Beig had expired. The incident of murder was came into the knowledge of Mungowal post of Kunjah police on Friday afternoon when they were informed that a man had been talking to another on telephone from a public call office that his (listener’s) brother had not died of cardiac arrest but had been murdered and that he could also give further details in this connection.

The Mungowal police raided the PCO and arrested the caller who was later identified as Jamshed. He was then handed over to the Gujrat police who interrogated him.

On his disclosure, the police also arrested Aaliya, however, her alleged paramour Asif was still at large. When the police raided his house, his parents said that their son had gone to Karachi.

The police registered a murder case against Aaliya, Asif and Jamshed on the report of Mirza Zubair Beig, the elder brother of the victim.

Sources told Dawn that Aaliya have three daughters and she had settled engagement of her eldest daughter, who is 13-year-old, with Asif’s brother against the consent of her family and she was often seen riding on Asif’s motorbike.
