Why did Pakistan forget Malala

LONDON: This is with reference to Taha Siddiqui’s article “Why did Pakistan forget Malala?” (October 9). Here in the UK, where I live, Malala Yousufzai is respected greatly by all, yet nearly every other Pakistani, based in Pakistan, I come across will insult or defame her. Why is this so?

The only reason I can see for why she is defamed in this manner is because, seemingly, Pakistanis do not like positive role models. They seem to prefer negative role models, like their precious militants and extremists, who are destroying Pakistan from within, yet they do not criticise them at all.
