Violence on women condemned

HYDERABAD – The participants of a seminar on ‘political participation of women’ in Hyderabad on August 28, emphasized the need to curb the every form of violence against women and condemned the torture on them especially in Sindh.

They were speaking at the one-day seminar organized by Citizens Action Committee for Women Rights of Aurat Foundation at Jinnah hall. The forum adopted several resolutions asked the authorities to take timely action in the case of a girl student of Sukkur who was sexually assaulted.

They urged for the stoppage to crime and violence against women especially a re cent case in which hairs and eye of a woman of Larkana was shaved and demanded immediate inquiry into the affair. The moot also stressed upon the authorities to utilize the funds allocated for district women councilors of Hyderabad in transparent manner so that benefit would be given to stakeholders.

District councilors Rana Siddiqui, Firdous Abro, Sumera Akhlaq, Saleem Brohi, Adam Malik and RiffatYasmin of Aurat Foundation Karachi, Rizwana Ansari, Naib Nazim Taluka City Abdul Qadeer Nagar are aloso spoke at the seminar.
