Tasleem’s father back home from Edhi Centre

KHAIRPUR: Gulsher Solangi, the father of slain girl Tasleem Solangi, has accused his sons of handing him over to Edhi Centre in Nooriabad area after telling the people there that he was mentally sick.

Talking to journalists at the press club in Pir Jo Goth on Tuesday he said that his sons Asif and Abdul Rasheed had put him in the Edhi Centre and his maternal uncle got him freed and also had him checked in a hospital.

Mr Gulsher who had returned to his village after about a year said he wanted to live there because he felt there was threat to his life in Karachi.

He refused to talk about the Tasleem Solangi murder case and said he did not want to add anything to the case because it would be sub judice.

Tasleem Solangi was reportedly mauled by dogs and shot to death by her uncle under a jirga verdict in Khairpur on March 7, 2008, over charges of having an extramarital affair.

Later investigations showed that a land dispute was at the centre of the brutal killing.

Mr Gulsher had held a press conference in Karachi on Oct 27 and denied charges of immoral behaviour levelled against her daughter by the jirga and said that she had fallen victim to a dispute over land.
