Slain couple denied last rites

SUKKUR: A woman and a man were killed on the pretext of karo-kari in Shah Jahan Nandwani village near Thull, Jacobabad district, on Monday and later buried without funeral prayer.

Shah Jahan Nandwani and Shaban Nandwani had been suspecting that their sister Hani alias Hanifa had illicit relations with a neighbour, Nizamuddin Nandwani.

They shot her dead in their house and later went to the house of Nizamuddin and killed him.

The bodies lay at the spot for 10 hours but the police did not reach there to take the bodies to a hospital for post-mortem.

Later, the bodies were buried without funeral prayer or other rituals.

In another incident, two men were killed over old enmity in Roshanabad village near Kandhra, Rohri taluka, Sukkur district. Gulzar Shaikh and Riaz Shaikh were going to their village. When they reached Roshanabad, four armed men opened fire on them, killing them on the spot.

An elder of Shaikh community, Badar Ali, alleged that the killers belonged to Janwari community as people from both the communities were involved in a land dispute which had earlier claimed eight lives from both the sides.
