Six booked for detaining two sisters

SUKKUR, Oct 10: The Sukkur police have registered a case against six people for declaring two sisters kari and keeping them in illegal detention in Bhoosa Lane.

Abida and Shahida, daughters of Ghulam Nabi Mallah, were married to Muneer and Ghulam Sarwar, sons of Shahnawaz Mirani, respectively.

According to sources, three days ago both sisters had gone to New Pind police station and complained about atrocities committed to them by their husbands and father-in-law but police did not take any notice.

When their husbands and father-in-law came to know about their visit to the police station, they again tortured both the women and locked them in a room.

When their sister Naseem Mallah, a police constable, come to know about her sisters being kept in illegal detention, she along with her brother Ali Gul Mallah went to their house, where according to her, Shahnawaz Mirani and his sons maltreated them and detained Naseem, while her brother Ali Gul managed to escape.

Ali Gul informed DIG Sukkur Bashir Memon about the incident, who ordered DPO Sukkur Sharjeel Kharal to recover the women.

The New Pind police along with women constables raided the house of Shahnawaz and recovered Abida, Shahida and Naseem, while Shahnawaz and his sons had already fled.

Later, on the complaint of Abida and Shahida, the police registered an FIR under sections 365-B, 342, 506/2, 34, PPC, against Shahnawaz, Muneer Ahmed, Ghulam Sarwar, Aijaz, Anwar and Rahim Bux, all Mirani by caste.

However, no arrest has been made so far.
