Sindh Women Development Department and Centre of Excellence for Women Studies, University of Karachi, KU signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)

Sindh Women Development Department and Centre of Excellence for Women Studies, University of Karachi, KU on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at working together for development and empowerment of women in relevant sectors.

Subhan Memon, Secretary Women Development and Nasreen Aslam Shah, Director Centre of Excellence for Women Studies signed the MoU at a ceremony in the presence of Sindh Caretaker Minister for Women Development and Social Welfare, Nadira Panjwani and department officials. The MoU stipulates that the institutions will facilitate each other in the development of research and study to be under taken on women empowerment. It will also facilitate to provide guidelines to students about their future career development, for which career development centre will be established in all the universities of the province under Gender Reforms Action Plan (GRAP).

Furthermore, the MoU enables Centre of Excellence for Women Studies to receive a sum of Rs0.5 million from Women Development Department for development of libraries. It will also assist each other in preparation of publications, comments on laws relating to women, reports and research on related issues. Nadira Panjwani said that MoU is a major step to collaborate with educational institutions working for women empowerment. She said that the department would collaborate and assist the institutions working for women welfare in the province. She stated that his department would assist financially all Women Studies Centres functioning in various universities of Sindh.
