LAHORE: Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Akhtar Bahadur on Monday extended the interim bail of former PML-N MPA Shomaila Rana till August 3 in the credit card theft case registered against her.

The court extended Ms Rana’s bail after it was informed that as investigation was underway, the hearing should be adjourned.

After hearing of the case, Ms Rana told the media that she would prove her ‘innocence’ before the court. She said that she had resigned from the Punjab Assembly seat and would be defending herself as a common citizen. She said the case against her was false because she had not committed any fraud. The people who had embezzled billions of rupees had not been held accountable, she added.

A case under sections 420, 468, 471 and 379 was registered against Shomaila Rana with Ghalib Market police station on the complaint of Mughees Islam, a resident of Gulberg.
