Sack-packed body of woman found from Lahore canal

LAHORE: The body of an unidentified woman, packed in a sack, was found from the canal in the Sundar police limits on Tuesday. Police termed the killing blind murder and said that the body was shifted to morgue for autopsy.

Police investigators say they believe some unidentified persons killed the woman and threw her sack-packed body in the canal.

Separately, police have booked a man for demanding Rs2 million extortion from a trader in the Shadbagh police limits. The accused was named as Nadeem. Police have launched a hunt for Nadeem

ACCIDENT

A 40-year-old cyclist was crushed to death by a truck in Sanda, police said. The man, yet to be identified, was on his way when he had the accident on Bund Road. The truck driver managed escape.

Robberies

Dacoits on Tuesday robbed five houses at gunpoint and made off with cash, gold ornaments, and other valuables worth Rs3.7 million from different parts of the Punjab capital, police sources claimed.

Four gunmen walked into the house of Safdar Ali in the Johar Town police precincts and took away cash and gold ornaments worth one million rupees.

Five dacoits stormed into the house of Muhammad Waseem in the Kot Lakhpat police area. The bandits held up the family members at gunpoint and snatched away cash and gold ornaments worth Rs900000.

Three robbers equipped with automatic weapons burst into the house of Shabbir Ahmed in the Chuhng police area and escaped after collecting cash and gold ornaments worth Rs700000. The police are investigating.

Armed bandits also robbed two other residences of Ejaz Ahmed and Sultan in the Nishtar Colony and Badami Bagh police areas respectively and fled away after snatching cash and gold ornaments worth Rs1.3 million.

Meanwhile robbers riding on motorcycles and equipped with pistols also looted families, passersby, and motorists in the Manawan, Millat Park, Ghaziabad, Defense-A, Lohari Gate, Iqbal Town, Gulberg, Naseerabad, Batapur and Garhi Shahu police limits and snatched away cash, gold ornaments and mobile phones worth hundreds of thousands of rupees at gunpoint.

Also, four cars were driven away from Factory Area, Ghalib Market, Defense-A and Muslim Town police area while 10 motorcycles were either snatched or stolen away from Race Course, Millat Park, Johar Town, Raiwind, Garden Town, Ghaziabad, Shera Kot, Hanjarwal, Iqbal Town and Nawab Town police areas.
