Rape victim’s body exhumed

ISLAMABAD: The body of a police officer’s daughter, who was raped and murdered in November last year, was exhumed for collecting samples on Tuesday.

The capital administration had on March 23 allowed the police to exhume the bodies of two girls who were separately raped and killed in November 2012 and February this year.

A three-member board of doctors obtained samples from the body of the police officer’s daughter after opening the grave at Bhara Kahu on Tuesday.

When she was murdered on November 4, her family had considered it a natural death despite the fact that her death certificate suggested “marks of hanging” around her neck.

Later in February, a man, arrested along with his girlfriend in connection with the murder of an 11-year-old girl in Bhara Kahu on February 13, told the investigators that he had also raped and killed the daughter of the superintendent of police (SP).

The body of the 11-year-old girl will be exhumed on Wednesday.

A senior police officer said there was a need to exhume the bodies as the laboratory conducting the DNA test had sought more samples saying the ones already provided by the police did not meet the requirement.
