Probe into acid throwing case completed

SHIKARPUR: Police completed reinvestigation of acid-throwing case on Thursday after the acid victim Maria Shah succumbed to her injuries in a Karachi hospital a day ago.

DPO Khadim Hussain Rind said that the statements of Maria’s father Baqar Ali Shah, brother Mehtab Ali Shah and witnesses had been recorded under section 302 of the PPC and section 7 of the Anti Terrorism Act (ATA).

The final challan of the case would be submitted to the Anti-Terrorism Court Jacobabad on Friday, he said.

Maria Shah, a midwife, suffered serious injuries when accused Arsalan Sanjrani threw acid on her four weeks ago at a private dispensary where she worked.

She was referred to the Karachi Civil Hospital in serious condition where she died on Tuesday after remaining under treatment for three weeks.
