Police dispose of case despite court order

HYDERABAD, Dec 3: A team of senior police officers disposed of the case of a woman allegedly burnt alive by her in-laws despite the court order to transfer investigation to crime branch from the present investigating officers. The court had acted on the application of the brother of woman.

Police claimed the case to be of suicide and not murder and subsequently released the prime accused, alleged by the complainant.

“Additional District Judge-VI on Nov 29, after my application, ordered transfer of case to crime branch from the present investigating officer of Hussainabad whom I don’t trust,” said Nadir Ali, brother of deceased Abida Khanum, on Wednesday. He is the complainant of the murder case of his sister Abida Khanam lodged with Hussainabad police. Abida was shifted to civil hospital’s burns ward on Nov 17 with 75 per cent wounds.

Her brother had claimed that in her dying declaration she held responsible her husbandÂ’s brother and his wife for burning her in the house. She succumbed to injuries in Karachi where she was shifted in view of her precarious condition.

Doctors claimed that normally, patient with over 60 per cent burns hardly survive.
