PHC sets aside 14-year jail term

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Monday set aside 14-year conviction of a man in the murder case of his wife over a family dispute.A single bench of Chief Justice Mian Fasihul Mulk acquitted the man, who was convicted by a trial court in the murder case of his wife.

During the course of hearing, Marjan Ali Khan lawyer for the appellant Muhammad Saeed submitted that brother-in-law of the appellant had registered first information report in a police station claiming that the accused Saeed had killed his sister Hidayat Begum.

He contended that the complainant, who is brother of the killed woman, claimed in the FIR that his brother-in-law Muhammad Saeed had called him on August 18, 2012 asking that he had killed his sister and asked him to collect the body.

He argued it was unseen occurrence and no one knew about the murder of the appellant wife.

Additional Advocate General Waqar Ahmad Khan submitted that the appellant himself phoned brother of his wife about killing of his wife asking him to collect her body. He said that there was a family dispute between the husband and wife.
