Nurses protest against police

JHANG: Nurses observed a strike and took out a rally to press for their demands and against the police for manhandling their colleagues in Lahore.

The 60 nurses led by the nursing superintendent observed the strike and gathered at the main gate of DHQ hospital to lodge their protest and express solidarity with their colleagues. The nurses carrying placards marched on the hospital premises. They shouted slogans in favour of their demands. Owing to the nursesí strike, hundreds of patients were deprived of medicines while the OPD activities also suffered badly.

The protesters also demanded that their duty should be rotated on monthly basis as some nurses were favoured in the rostrum. They said that some nurses were performing morning duty for the last several years.

They demanded that the nursing staff posted at radiology department and laboratory should also be assigned the night duty., DHQ Hospital MS Dr Mumtaz Sial met the striking nurses and advised them to return to duty. He said that their demands would be conveyed to the authorities concerned.
