‘Nothing in budget for women, minorities’

LAHORE: Opposition leader in the Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Zaheer-u-Din participating in the budgetary discussion on Friday said that the proposed budget possesses nothing about female population or the minorities and was devoid of any purposeful objective. The 13th session of Punjab Assembly was scheduled to commence at 9:00am but due to lack of quorum mentioned by MPA Mohsin Laghari, commenced at 11am.

He further said there was nothing much in the budget. He said it was a long time that the ‘Truth Report’ was expected from the provincial government but it was still not there. The Leader of the Opposition in his criticism of the debate said that inflation was there to the tune of 22 percent and 15 percent pay rise was given to the Punjab Government employees. Makhdum Ahmed Mahmud entering the debate said that there was no programme of establishing colleges in Bhawalpur and there should have been a substantial development allocation in his area.
