HYDERABAD: A newly-married woman alleged here on Tuesday that she was criminally assaulted by the uncle of her husband, and warned of self-immolation if action was not taken against the culprit.

Nazia, resident of Shahdadpur, married to Mohammed Shahzad, a guard by profession, on April 3. She told a news conference at the press club here along with her family that Shahzad’s uncle, Mohammed Iqbal, sexually assaulted her in the absence of her husband, who was on night duty.

Nazia said she had lodged a complaint against Muhammad Iqbal in the Pinvari police station, as her husband had left her. When asked as the police had arrested Iqbal then why was she still threatening self-immolation, Nazia said she considered Iqbal’s wife as equal accomplice in the crime and wanted her arrest too.

She said the DNA test should be conducted which will prove her allegation and demanded stern action against the culprit; otherwise, she warned of committing self-immolation if justice was not provided to her.
