Love marriage case: remand of policeman extended

RAWALPINDI: The Airport police on Saturday obtained physical custody of a sub-inspector (SI) for three more days for allegedly framing a citizen in an abduction case and arresting his sister after he married a woman of his own choice.

The police sought extension of eight more days in the physical custody of Malik Bashir, the SI, to get a clue to the whereabouts of Shazia, the sister of Fazal Abbas who married Kalsoom Baloch without the consent of her parents.

However, Judge Malik Azmatullah Awan gave the police three more days for further interrogation.

The Airport police arrested Shafique Dogar, the brother-in-law of Fazal, to recover the couple after Kulsoom’s brother Rehman lodged an abduction case.

The police also picked up Shazia, a sister of Fazal, from Sargodha to press Fazal appear before the police.

Later, the police discharged the abduction case against Fazal and Dogar after the Lahore High Court chief justice took suo motu notice of the case. However, Shazia is yet to be recovered.

Separately, the court directed the Civil Lines SHO to submit detailed report on how former city police officer and other police officials were declared innocent in the case of raiding the district bar premises in March and arresting lawyers after beating them.

The SHO on Saturday told the court that during investigation the police officers were found innocent.
