A woman was killed allegedly by her husband on the pretext of karo-kari in Lal Almani village in the Yaroo Loond area of Ghotki district on Thursday.

According to sources, following suspicion of karo-kari, Muhib Almani attacked his wife Sakina with a wooden stick, injuring her seriously. Later, he forced her to drink pesticides due to which she died on the spot.

Sources claimed that the accused had buried the body near his house.

As someone informed police of the murder, Yaroo Loond SHO Faiz Mohammad Dayo along with a police party reached on the spot, arrested Muhib and on his indicatation recovered the body of Sakina from near his house.

Later, the body was taken to Civil Hospital, Mirpur Mathelo, for post-mortem but as no lady doctor was available, police took the body to Pano Akil taluka hospital.

Police was investigating the matter but no case was registered.

Area people say that Sakina was murdered by her husband but the accused claimed that she committed suicide after a scuffle with him.
