ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Human Rights Ansar Burney

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Human Rights Ansar Burney, while taking a serious notice of trafficking of teenage girls abroad under the facade of cultural delegations, has sought a detailed report from all the provincial governments, including the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

The minister was informed that well-organised promoter groups were involved in the smuggling of young girls to Dubai.

Under the false promises of getting them domestic jobs and cultural shows for them, the innocent young girls are sent abroad. However, when they reach there, they are forced into prostitution.

Most of the affected families and parents of the girls remained silent due to fears of their reputation while some of the families were forced to remain silent by threats and intimidation, the minister learnt.

A few months ago, the Ansar Burney Welfare Trust had brought the body of a seventeen-year-old young girl from Dubai who had died in a private prison due to a fire incident.

The deceased was taken to Dubai on the false promise of an attractive job but was forced into prostitution, the minister said.
