Girls’ school blown up in Nowshera

Education Executive District Officer (EDO) Hasanat Khan said all state-run schools in the district are closed for examinations until April 7.

NOWSHERA: A girls’ school was blown up in Taru Jaba area of Nowshera district on Wednesday evening.

Waqar Khan from the Pabbi police station told The Express Tribune that suspected militants scaled the boundary wall of the school and planted a device which exploded at 4pm.

There were no casualties as nobody was present when the explosion occurred. The watchman of the school has been arrested for his absence.

Pabbi SHO Akbar Jan told The Express Tribune that the explosion destroyed the school’s windows and doors, while the roof and walls have developed cracks. “It also caused an almost two-feet-deep crater,” he said.

Education Executive District Officer (EDO) Hasanat Khan said all state-run schools in the district are closed for examinations until April 7. He added that two other primary schools for boys had been destroyed in the area.
