Girls outdo boys in class-IX exams

LAHORE: The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education on Tuesday declared the results of Secondary School Certificate (Class-IX) annual examination for 2009.

According to the result notification, as many as 214,801 candidates appeared in the examination. Of them 85,942 candidates passed showing 40.01 percentage.

The preamble to the result notification says 165,223 students (boys and girls) appeared as regular candidates. Of them 73,412 candidates passed (44.43 per cent).

As many as 49,578 boys and girls appeared as private candidates out of whom 12,530 were declared successful (25.27 per cent).

Gender-wise pass percentage showed that girls stood ahead with 46.95 per cent results compared to boys’ 34.17 pass percentage. As many as 98,194 girls appeared as regular and private candidates and 46,099 of them passed. As many as 116,607 boys appeared as regular and private candidates and out of whom 39,843 were declared successful.

PU RESULTS: The Punjab University examination department on Tuesday declared the results of MA Education (elementary and secondary), Part-II, annual examination for 2008. The pass percentage in the exam remained 27.54.
