Girls’ government school encroachment SHC questions action against MNA

KARACHI: Sindh High Court directed provincial law officer to call report from authority concerned on what action was taken against unauthorized constructions allegedly raised by a sitting Member National Assembly on land of girls primary school in distinct Thatta.

A division bench, comprising Chief Justice & Justice Ahmed Ali M. Sheikh, passed this order after pursing inspection report submitted by District Judge Thatta who revealed that Government Boys & Girls Primary School Muhammad Khan Soomro was encroached & unauthorized constructions were raised.Former Union Council Nazim, Syed Manzoor Ali Ahah, had moved court against Sindh Secretary Education Department, District Officer (Education Works) Thatta & Chairmen of National Accountability Bureau & Anti-Corruption Establishment Sindh.He submitted DO(Education & Works) Thatta invited tenders for renovation of government primary schools in district. But, rules & regulations were violated in whole process of tenders awarding to misappropriate funds.

He contended concerned District Officer showed estimated cost of two school buildings renovation at Rs 2 million instead of Rs 1 million. Tenders were also awarded to favorite persons in violation of public procurement regulations.He stated a government boys & girls primary school located in Muhammad Khan Soomro village was part & parcel of MNA Abdul Wahab Soomro’s house, where no schooling facility was available. Illegal construction was raised there, while two government boys and primary schools were adopted by local NGO Al-Rajari in Muhammad Urs Khaskheli village. But, condition of other was very poor.

He prayed to call entire record from official respondents & order action against corrupt officials.Court order said: “In one of Government Boys & Girls School Muhammad Khan Soomro, it has been reported that it has been encroached by villagers. We would require learned AAG to call report from authority concerned as to what action has been taken against such unauthorized & illegal encroachment on public property & why such has not been taken till date.” Hearing was adjourned to a date in office.
