Girl raped to ‘avenge’ abduction

FAISALABAD: A girl was allegedly raped by three men seeking to avenge an abduction near Garh police station on Sunday. Police said Akbar Ali, a resident of Mauza Killianwala, had abducted a girl from his locality some days ago. “To avenge her abduction, her brother Jahangir along and two accomplices abducted Ali’s sister from their house and raped her in a field,” they said. They said the girl was found in the field by some farmers who took her to a hospital.

They said Ali was apparently in love with Jahangir’s sister and had been put off when she did not return his affections. Garh SHO said a complaint had been registered and a team had been formed to find and arrest the men who had kidnapped and raped the girl. He said police were awaiting the medico-legal report of the victim before proceeding with the investigations. He said police took such cases very seriously and would investigate the case on merit.
