Gang-rape case accused disappear

By: M Saleemur Rehman

KASUR: DHQ Hospital Nursing School Principal Tabinda Rani and five others booked on a gang-rape charge have disappeared due to police’s reluctance to arrest them. The Sadr Police had registered a case (893/13) against nursing school principal Tabinda Rani, DOM Ch Shakoor, Nomi, a 4th year student, and three others under sections 365/B, 376/2, 338/A of the PPC. Mehwish, a first year student and the victim stated that Principal Tabinda Rani had forcibly taken her to Lahore where she was gang-raped by DOM Ch Shakoor, and two others. She said that she got pregnant and was later forcibly subjected to miscarriage by Najma, a head nurse of the hospital.

It is ironic that the incident was concealed by the DHQ Hospital officials, including the medical superintendent who has now assumed the charge of the school principal. The case was registered after the DPO recorded the statement and EDO Health confirmed the report. On Saturday, Tabinda Rani packed her luggage and left the city.
