LAHORE: HARBANSPURA police on Thursday registered an FIR against four people for allegedly beating a pregnant woman resulting in the death of her unborn child.

Police said that Shazia in her application alleged that her husband’s uncle Bashir Ahmed, Zubaida, the wide of Bashir, and two unidentified accused attacked her in the street. She said they kicked her and hit her.

She said the accused beat her over a property dispute her husband Mustafa had with Bashir. She said she fainted due to the beating and felt pain and discomfort when she regained consciousness.

She said two days after the incident she gave birth to a dead child. She said the accused were responsible for the death of her child and they should be charged with murder. Police had registered an FIR and sent the body to mortuary for autopsy to ascertain the cause of the baby’s death.

Man kills brother-in-law: A 35-year-old man was shot dead allegedly by his relatives over a family dispute in the Badami Bagh area on Thursday.

The victim identified as Habib-ur-Rahman, was a resident of Karam Nagar. According to a police official Shaukat Ali, Habib-ul-Rahman had a dispute with his wife over a family issue. His wife left him and started living with her parents in the same area.

Official said Habib’s brother-in-law Sher Khan exchanged harsh words with him when the victim refused for reconciliation. Sher Khan, the police official said, held grudge against Habib and on Thursday opened fire injuring him. Habib was removed to the Mayo Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Police official said that no complaint was filed by the victimÂ’s family so far. The body has been removed to morgue for autopsy.

Wapda man electrocuted on duty: A 40-year-old Wapda employee was electrocuted in the Ichhra police area on Thursday.

The victim, identified as Muhammad Aslam, was a lineman in Wapda. He was father of three children.

According to the police, on Thursday Aslam was on his job to restore electricity supply to the Rehmanpura area by climbing up on an electricity pole. He received severe electric shocks and fell down. He sustained burns on different parts of his body. The area people took him to a hospital but he died on way to hospital.
