Domestic violence bill

Sir: I recently watched a poor woman’s report on TV whose husband had tortured her on a family issue and also killed his four-month-old child in Sargodha. Almost every other day we hear, read or watch stories of domestic violence.

Women and children are beaten, abused and tortured severely by their fathers, husbands, brothers and other male members of their families. This barbaric practice could have met an end or at least declined if the bill on domestic violence against women and children had been passed into law by the Senate.

I would appeal to the members of parliament who had moved this bill in the National Assembly to take this bill up once again and this time do not let the people sitting in the Upper House to criminally ignore it.
