Court seeks fresh report in gang-rape case

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Monday directed the district and sessions judge, Nankana Sahib, to send fresh report regarding submission of challan before the trial court within a week in gang rape of a girl.

The LHC earlier taking notice of a news report about the incident had directed the judge to probe into the matter and submit a detailed report regarding steps taken by the local police along with his own comments.

The judge submitted his report that Syedwala police registered a case against the said culprits on an application of Bashir Ahmad. Accused Rao Asif and Saqlain have been arrested and sent to judicial lockup.

The statement of the victim has also been recorded. However, SHO concerned has been directed to send the challan to the area magistrate

According to news report, daughter of Bashir Ahmed of Syedwala Town was returning from nearby shrine with her 11-year-old cousin Shakeel when three accused Rao Asif alias Kaka, Rai Saqlain and Rana Wahee overpowered Shakeel. They took the girl to a deserted place and molested her for two hours.

Father of victim alleged that police dealt the case as source of income. He lodged a complaint but police registered the case after lapse of five days against two and omitted the name of third accused Waheed.

The police also got the medical examination of the victim after a week to weaken the case. He alleged that ASI Saifullah was according protocol to the accused and humiliated the affected family before them.

He also appealed to Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhary to provide him justice.

It was also reported that the people of the area said the three accused had ruined the lives of many girls but no poor man dared to file complaint against them.
