Court orders challan in acid attack case

LAHORE: Lahore High Court Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial on Monday ordered the district and session judge, Lahore, for submission of a challan report of an incident of acid attack on a teenaged girl within three days.

The chief justice directed the district and judge to send report about the submission of challan by police before the relevant court within three days so that the investigation could be concluded transparently.

The LHC had taken notice of a news item published in a section of press that a 16-year old girl suffered burns in an acid attack at Cavalry Ground. The D&SJ submitted in his initial report that a case was registered against two unidentified persons on the complaint of the victim’s father, Khalid Nazir Butt.

But so far the complainant, his witness and the victim are unable to nominate or identify any culprit. However, investigation officer has been directed to collect all evidence, trace the accused, conclude the investigation honestly and submit challan before the relevant court at the earliest.

The News
