Couple among three killed for ‘honour’ separately in RY Khan

RAHIM YAR KHAN – A man stabbed his daughter and son-in-law to death while another killed his wife in separate ‘honouring killing’ incidents here in different areas on Sunday. In the first incident, Rana Anwar, a resident of old Sadiqabad city, some 20-kilometres from here, killed his daughter Iqra and her husband Fiaz.

His daughter had eloped with Fiaz, their neighbour and the couple had contracted a free will marriage. Rana Fiaz told the media that his daughter had married against his consent despite the fact that he had stopped her many times. He claimed that after some months, Iqra contacted him and told him that she wanted to meet her family at which he told her to bring her husband along with her whenever she return home.

He said that she agreed and the next morning both of them reached his home. He claimed that to quench his grudge, he killed the couple with a sharp digger. Meanwhile, City Police SHO Mohammad Aslam Khan told “The Nation” that after executing the killings, Rana Anwar came to the Police Station and informed the police about the entire story.

The police arrested him and registered an FIR under Section 302 PPC against him, he added. The SHO argued that the accused was about 55-year-old and this was not possible that he had killed the couple alone. He expressed his hope that the police would ferret out the facts soon. Meanwhile, a man killed his wife on suspicion of illicit relations with someone in Basti Taj Garah.

Mohammad Sohrab killed his wife because he doubted that his wife namely Salma had developed illicit relations with someone. The Iqbalabad Police Station Investigation officer Qaim Khan told the media that the police had registered an FIR under Section 302 PPC against the accused and arrested him.
