Case against SI, four others: Girl kidnapped, raped

VEHARI, July 26: A sub-inspector and two women were among the five people against whom a kidnap case was registered on Saturday for their alleged involvement in the abduction and the rape of a girl.

Reports said that the 20-year-old girl of Chak-11/WB was the student of fourth year of Government Girls College, Vehari.

On June 17, the girl was present in her house when her neighbours Rani Bibi and her daughter Shazia came there and insisted her to give them a company for some shopping.

On the way to a nearby market, Mailsi police SI Tanveer Bhutta, Rana Shehbaz and Arshad Gujjar had allegedly kidnapped the girl at gunpoint. Rani Bibi is the mother of accused Shehbaz.

The accused took the girl to the house of SI in Mailsi where she was gang-raped.

The accused later took her to a vacant house in Multan where she was repeatedly gang-raped.

The victim girl said the accused had also got her signature forcibly on some documents.

In the meanwhile, the girl’s father submitted an application to DPO Asher Hameed who pressurized SI Tanveer Bhutta to recover the victim.

The girl was finally recovered from Multan and was presented before the area magistrate who had handed the girl over to her parents about a week ago.

Soon after her recovery, she had filed an application to the City police station for the registration of a kidnap-cum-rape case against the accused.

However, the police registered a case against the accused under Section 365-(B) on Saturday after almost one week.

The DPO has already suspended the SI from service, but the accused has still not been arrested.

Rana Shehbaz claim that the girl was his wife and that their marriage took place in the month of June was rejected by a local court.

It was learnt that all the accused had gone under ground after the registration of a case against them.

City SHO Falak Sher Pahore said the police had so far registered a kidnap case against the accused.

He said the gang-rape section would be added to the FIR in the light of the medical report which had already been sent to Lahore for examination.
