Campus for women police investigators opened

LAHORE: Inspector General of Police, Punjab, Javed Iqbal has said that responsibilities of police are sacred and police officers should perform their duties judiciously and diligently by keeping themselves above from the all sort of fear, influence and greed.

He said this at the passing-out parade of the 4th batch of 353 lady recruits and 41st lower class course of 502 males at Police Training School, Chung, Lahore, on Thursday. The IGP advised the recruits to improve the image of the police department by exhibiting their best professional capabilities to ensure quick relief to the people.

The Javed Iqbal stressed upon the lady recruits to prove by their capabilities that they did not lag behind their male colleagues. Later, the IGP distributed cash prizes, certificates and shields among the position holders of both courses.

Meanwhile, the IGP also inaugurated a women campus for specialised skills at PTS, Chunge, where women trainees are getting latest investigation training techniques on international standards under the expertise of highly skilled and professional instructors.

On this occasion, the provincial police officer said that the first advance investigation course for women police in Pakistan was a major initiative of the Gender Responsive Policing project with the collaboration of Germany.

He appreciated the efforts of the instructors and encouraged the trainee woman police officers to opt for field positions to contribute to effective policing. He said he would ensure that the first three position holders of the advance investigation course for woman police officers would serve as additional SHO and other qualified officers would be posted as investigation officers. GRP-GIZ Principal Advisor Dr Khola Iram said that it would be beneficial if the IGP could ensure the qualified woman officers of this course were deputed in regular police stations.
